EDM Challenge #205: Draw a Soda Can

Posted in Every Day Matters, drawings, school | 2 Comments »

In an effort to get drawing more…I have revisited the Everyday Matters Group drawing challenges.  I have done several of these in the past…but it’s been a long time.  These are weekly challenges – drawing from life.  View the complete and weekly updated list here.

I had to sit in Professional Development meetings all day today.  One of the “perks” of being a teacher! ;)

Thanks to Jackson County ISD for providing the Post-it Note.

And by the way, just in case you are wondering, I know my archives do not work with this template.  Sam has promised me he will work on it.  But, currently, he is spending extra time that he has working on email issues at work…so it might be a little longer.  In the mean time…(and I have no idea why this works – though I am sure there is a technical reason) but this link takes you to my blog on my old template…where you can access the archives – and my Flickr albums.

Waiting in the Parking Lot

My father-in-law had an auction today up in Okemos.  We wanted to get together for Savannah’s birthday, so we drove up there to meet him.  When we got there, I waited a while in the car with Jasmin and Karson.  Savannah and Max were in Uncle Kevin’s car.  We had to wait because the auction hadn’t quite ended yet.  I sat and drew this picture while Karson played his DS and Jasmin ate Cheerios. She started getting fussy after a while, so I got her out of her carseat and she sat next to me and added her own personal touch to my journal page…her side didn’t make it into the picture, but you can see she contributed to my drawing, too.  After a while, we went inside.  We had brought our camera and a tripod to take a family picture since Sam’s sisters’ families were there too.  After that we headed over to Cracker Barrel for dinner.  We stopped and got the boys some DS cases and also so Savannah could spend her gift card from Grandpa…and then we headed home.  It was really bad weather and took us a while.  The snow kept freezing on the windshield.  I am glad I didn’t have to be the one driving!

I thought I would post a few of the drawings I have done during camp this week.  Nothing spetacular…but I know it’s been a while since you’ve seen any of my drawings.  So here you go.

You might think it’s pretty bad that I draw during church…but I really am still listening when I am drawing.  Sometimes it actually helps me focus.  I figure it’s an hour that I am just sitting there not really doing anything so I pick up my pen and draw.  This drawing (above) kind of got some water dripped on it later after I drew it…oh well.  Cary suggested that I make a collage of people’s backs.  I don’t think so…it would take a while to get enough to do that.  But here is another one I did.

This drawing I really liked, but the service ended just before I got the hand drawn…shoot!  I also did this drawing last night…and didn’t get it quite done.  I just love that I can take off my shoes during church and I love the feel of the cool grass when the rest of me is so stinkin’ hot!  These are my sandals I got this summer.  Funny thing is two of my friends ended up with the same exact sandals later on!  They are super comfy…from payless.

I also did this drawing at the beach…but i don’t really like it.

We go home tomorrow…it will be nice to be home…but I’ll have a lot to do when we get back.

Close Call

So I decided, on the way home today, as I glanced at my gas gauge that I better get some money so I can put some gas in my car. I had to make our insurance payment anyway, so I headed over to the credit union, praying that I could make it through the line, to Allstate and then to the gas station across the street. I had to wait forever in the line at the C.U. though! So I drew you a picture! You can see how empty my tank was. When I came out of Allstate and went to start up, it didn’t start the first time. I jiggled around in my seat a little (not sure if that really would help or not, but maybe it did!) and it started right up and I cruised across the street and put $50.00 worth in my tank…the sad thing is, it only filled 3/8 of my tank! That stinks!
