Report Cards
Wow! This whole report card thing can get really stressful! I have been frantically testing my 27 students the past few days. We actually started 2 weeks ago. But then we lost 2 days last week…during which we would have done a lot of testing…and therefore we really had to cram it in this week. My aide and I did everything we could in every spare minute we had. I worked during recesses and she stayed late 2 days in a row to help me finish! I still have 5 students that I can’t complete their report cards. They are missing just a few tests. Report cards don’t go home till next Wednesday, but I really didn’t want to have to worry about recording assessments this weekend. As it stands right now,I have several report cards completely done. Tomorrow during our half day records day I will be able to get most of the report cards printed out and the 1st semester grades entered into the CA60s – something I have never had to mess with before. I am hoping that I can get everything done that I need to and then I will have some time to work in my room on a few things.
EDM Challenge #205: Draw a Soda Can
In an effort to get drawing more…I have revisited the Everyday Matters Group drawing challenges. I have done several of these in the past…but it’s been a long time. These are weekly challenges – drawing from life. View the complete and weekly updated list here.
I had to sit in Professional Development meetings all day today. One of the “perks” of being a teacher! 😉
Thanks to Jackson County ISD for providing the Post-it Note.
And by the way, just in case you are wondering, I know my archives do not work with this template. Sam has promised me he will work on it. But, currently, he is spending extra time that he has working on email issues at work…so it might be a little longer. In the mean time…(and I have no idea why this works – though I am sure there is a technical reason) but this link takes you to my blog on my old template…where you can access the archives – and my Flickr albums.
MACRO MONDAY
Waiting in the Parking Lot
My father-in-law had an auction today up in Okemos. We wanted to get together for Savannah’s birthday, so we drove up there to meet him. When we got there, I waited a while in the car with Jasmin and Karson. Savannah and Max were in Uncle Kevin’s car. We had to wait because the auction hadn’t quite ended yet. I sat and drew this picture while Karson played his DS and Jasmin ate Cheerios. She started getting fussy after a while, so I got her out of her carseat and she sat next to me and added her own personal touch to my journal page…her side didn’t make it into the picture, but you can see she contributed to my drawing, too. After a while, we went inside. We had brought our camera and a tripod to take a family picture since Sam’s sisters’ families were there too. After that we headed over to Cracker Barrel for dinner. We stopped and got the boys some DS cases and also so Savannah could spend her gift card from Grandpa…and then we headed home. It was really bad weather and took us a while. The snow kept freezing on the windshield. I am glad I didn’t have to be the one driving!
Pinkeye Problems
These little bottles have been used a lot lately at our house. Savannah got pinkeye the day after Christmas, then Jasmin had it, and then last week Max had it. We have been doing eyedrops in everyone’s eyes a few times a day. And even though Karson hasn’t had it yet, he’s been getting eyedrops too. I don’t know if you are supposed to use them as a preventative measure…but it sounded like a good idea…and his eyes have stayed clear. There is so much pink eye going around right now. Kids at school have it, a bunch of kids at church have had it…I know at least 5 kids that have had it in the last week! Besides that there are a ton of cases of Fifths disease at our kid’s school and some kind of crazy flu has been going around too. I am hoping our immune systems can fight it, I really don’t want to be sick right now!
Now…aren’t you proud of me? I am. (for finally doing a drawing – in case you are wondering) I know it’s not great quality…I am kind of out of practice, I guess. All the more reason to do another one tomorrow!
🙂
Brrrr…
I can only remember one other time when school was cancelled due to the cold weather. I don’t remember when it was…but it sure was a nice surprise to wake up Thursday and find out that there was no school. I didn’t even have a clue that it might be cancelled and I was glad to take the opportunity to sleep in and got right back into bed. It was awesome. And then today…well, I kind-of expected that school would be cancelled today as well, since I saw the forcast and it was pretty much the same as the Thursday. So…I didn’t really get my weekly newsletter done and didn’t get my papers checked. Instead I ended up watching TV with Sam. We watched The Office and then one episode of Carnivale from season 2. We got season 1 for Christmas and watched it all…so we had to go on and watch season 2. It’s really too bad that it got canceled. It’s a really good show (HBO). After Carnivale, he wanted to watch The Prestige. I sat with my laptop on most of the movie, but didn’t really get anything done.
This morning I didn’t really get to sleep in, but I did lay around for a couple of hours after the kids were up. It was nice. Later we got ready and went and got Ashlyn, Savannah’s friend from school. Savannah’s birthday is tomorrow and Ashlyn and Savannah’s cousins, Caroline and Anah came over. I took them to dinner and then we went to see Hotel for Dogs. They had a blast. Caroline and Anah are spending the night and as of right now they are all still up. They are playing really nicely together and even though it’s late they are being pretty good. I think I will start making them go to bed soon though…we don’t want grumpy kids tomorrow!
Anyway, it’s been a great weekend. I am loving the extra time at home. The awesome thing is we don’t have school on Monday either because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I have professional development meetings to go to though…but it should be ok…we get to meet with the other kindergarten teacher and talk about curriculum stuff. The kids will most likely go to their Aunt’s house for the day. Then we don’t have school next Friday either. So it will be a short week for teaching.
All day today, not having an agenda, I have been thinking I should do some drawing. I am just not sure what to draw. So maybe I will come up with some bright idea and post something before the end of the weekend. We’ll see.
Macro Monday Answer…
Yes you were right. It is frost. Amazing isn’t it. I was in Walmart for like 15 minutes and this is what I saw when I got back in my truck. It was so cool! It is amazing how the lines were straight and how they intersected forming a web-like pattern. I love how creative nature is! I love to think how God wanted to show us just a hint of his amazing creativity in little things like that!
MACRO MONDAY
OK. I know it’s Tuesday. But I took this picture on Monday and thought it would be good to use. But since I took it with a camera phone (that probably will give it away) and sent it to my flickr account, I had to blog it from Flickr…only I couldn’t remember what our user name was exactly…so I didn’t get to do it till today.
Can you guess what it is?
